Ask an Engineer

The CISC is the resource for framing solutions and technical information on designing steel buildings, bridges and platework in Canada.

The CISC is committed to fostering the development and sharing of knowledge and best practices in the steel construction industry. Our engineers are ready to answer your questions on all aspects of structural steel design for buildings and bridges.

In a typical year we respond to approximately 350 unique queries from engineers, EITs, architects, fabricators, and other industry stakeholders — providing technical assistance on a wide range of structural design projects.

Answers to technical inquiries related to codes and standards or the practice of engineering are normally provided to professional engineers (P. Eng.).

The Solution Centre is a free technical advisory service for engineers and project teams. Our regional P.Eng. staff can answer design questions, help interpret standards, and recommend resources.

Can’t find your answer? Submit a technical question to our team of regional engineers.
